One of the famous traditional cooking from Malaysia is Penang Prawn Mee which is so mouthwatering for it is so tasty or delicious. The aroma is so inviting that you may not able to refuse. This aroma comes from the shrimp broth with reddish in color and if you stir your spoon you will find tender noodle, boiled eggs, shredded chicken meat, and of course shrimp.

Penang Prawn Mee is served in a very special way, the cooking is poured into white tureen with fried onion spread on top. According to the original name in Malaysia, this cooking is known as Prawn Hokkien Mee or “Mee Udang”. Compared to laksa, Penang Prawn Mee is not cooked or mixed with coconut milk. The noodles cooked together with the shrimp broth are thin rice noodles which tasted tenderly and softly.

Surely, you can easily find this cooking from the original Malay restaurant like Penang Bistro. In fact, this restaurant doesn’t only present you Penang Prawn Mee because there are more Malaysian traditional foods you can taste. If you are the Malaysian Foods fans, you can now visit the newly-opening Penang Bistro restaurant in Jakarta Barat. The menu offered are exactly the same with other branches, the only different is that the new restaurant has larger space for visitors.

There are some popular foods with noodle as the basic ingredients listed on the menu, for example Malay Mee Goreng, Penang Laksa, and Penang Char Kway Teow. Besides the Penang Prawn Mee, those cooking are the special menu ordered mostly by visitors and they have become the main cooking in the restaurant. If you want appetizer, the restaurant will offer you Penang Lobak and the main serve will be Nyonya Nasi Lemak.

When you order Penang Lobak, you will find some foods in the menu which are “lumpia lobak,” – it is a kind of eggroll combines with radish – shrimp fritter, and fried tofu. You can pick two types of hoisin sauces; one is sweet sauce and another one is acidly sweet sauce. The last one is tasted like Bangkok sauce. The great thing when you visit Malay restaurant is the special tea called “teh tarik” and another option is the thai iced tea. Surely, these two beverages will satisfy your thirst. Therefore, if you want to taste delicious food that rich of Malaysian ingredients, you should try Penang Prawn Mee, Nyonya Nasi Lemak, and also the ultra-thin-sliced potatoes that are so crispy. Moreover, you can taste the cooking with sliced meat of fried tenggiri for richer flavor.
